Calle de Francisco Vivancos

Prosperidad

Bears the name of one of the first residents of the old Ibarrondo estate, though nothing survives of Francisco Vivancos beyond his surname on the sign.

In the old Ibarrondo estate, built over vegetable gardens and melon fields at the edge of Prosperidad, the streets took their names not from heroes or battles but from the residents who built their own houses there with their hands. Whoever built earned the privilege of naming the street where he raised his roof. Francisco Vivancos was one of those first residents. Beyond that, his trail vanishes: no record survives of who he was or what he did. The street is his only trace. Today Francisco Vivancos is a short stretch, barely a hundred meters that recall, unknown to the passerby, a neighbor who one day put his name on his own front door.
