Calle de Francisca Conde

Francisca Conde gives her name to a short street in Valdeacederas that ends at the corner with calle de Rosendo Conde. The municipal register lists her in 1941 as owner of the land the street was laid out across. The shared surname with Rosendo Conde has no documented explanation. The name follows a common practice on the outskirts: Valdeacederas was built up on plots opened with almost no planning, and it was usual for a landowner to give up his ground for a street in exchange for it bearing his name. That is how neighbourhood surnames reached the map that would otherwise have left no trace. Of Francisca Conde nothing else survives: a landowner whose name lived on in the plaque.
