Avenida del Doctor Arce
Honors a physician surnamed Arce, though no reliable record survives of exactly which one.
The title of doctor gives away the intent of the name: to honor a physician surnamed Arce. Exactly who he was is not reliably documented, and it is better to say so than to fill the gap with a plausible name; several candidates have circulated, but none holds up.
The Avenida del Doctor Arce marks one of the edges of the Colonia El Viso, the cluster of low rationalist houses from the 1930s, alongside streets named after peninsular rivers such as the calle del Cinca or the calle del Segre. That corner, where Ava Gardner once had a house, still looks like a village hidden inside the city.
