Calle del Barón del Castillo de Chirel
Honors Carlos Frígola y Palavicino, first Baron of the Castillo de Chirel, a conservative politician and senator of the Restoration.
The name honors Carlos Frígola y Palavicino (Valencia, 1848 - Madrid, 1915), first Baron of the Castillo de Chirel and a conservative politician who served as a Madrid councilman, member of parliament and senator for life.
The title comes from a real place: the Castillo de Chirel, a fortress in the district of Cortes de Pallás, in Valencia. Of Andalusi origin and rebuilt in the 15th century, in the 17th it served against the Morisco revolts, until the 1748 earthquake left it in ruins. Today it is a protected ruin, and its name lives on in this short street in the Berruguete neighborhood.
