Calle de Nati Mistral
Honors Nati Mistral, a Madrid actress, singer and reciter who gave more than half a century to the stage.
Behind the name is Natividad Macho Álvarez, born in Madrid in 1928 and known on stage as Nati Mistral. At fifteen she joined the company of Lola Flores and Manolo Caracol, and from there she moved between tragedy, comedy, zarzuela, copla and variety over six decades. She brought García Lorca to the stage as few Spanish actresses did. She received the National Theater Prize in 1997 and died in 2017.
The street is a recent one. It was born with the Mahou-Calderón development, the old grounds of the brewery and the Vicente Calderón stadium, beside the river. The Arganzuela district council approved the name in November 2023. Nati Mistral begins at the calle de Casimiro Mahou Bierhans and ends at the paseo Imperial, a stretch so short it can be walked in a couple of minutes.
