Calle de la Flecha

Ciudad Jardín

Takes its name from La Flecha, a peak in the Guadarrama range, within a garden suburb whose streets bear the names of mountain summits and passes.

Calle de la Flecha is a short stretch among the low houses of Ciudad Jardín, in Chamartín. It refers not to the throwing weapon but to La Flecha, a peak of just over two thousand metres on the border between Segovia and Madrid, on the ridge that watches over the Pirón valley. The name fits its surroundings. The neighbouring streets trace a miniature map of the Madrid range: calle de la Atalaya, calle de Peñalara, calle de Siete Picos, calle del Yelmo, calle de Cotos. La Flecha is one more of those Guadarrama summits carried into the street map of a suburb of little villas.
